The Howrah – New Jalpaiguri Shatabdi Express is a superfast express fully airconditioned train connecting Kolkata and Siliguri. It is the 2nd fastest fully diesel hauled train in India after Pune - Secunderabad Shatabdi, with a top speed of 135 kilometers per hour. The train is hauled by a matching WDP-4/WDP-4B/WDP-4D of Siliguri diesel locomotive shed as the Barddhaman - New Jalpaiguri section has not yet been electrified completely. It always gets LHB Coaches. The train comprises 7 AC Chair Cars, 1 AC First Class coach & 2 End-On-Generation Cars. == Inaugural == West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and the then railway minister Mukul Roy flag it off from Cooch Behar on 12 July 2012 .
